Joseph F. Kager, CCP
Mr. Kager, a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), directs our executive compensation practice as the Managing Consultant of §16 Consulting. Mezrah Consulting established §16 Consulting, an independent company, to provide executive compensation consulting services to companies and their Boards of Directors.
Mr. Kager is a graduate of the University of Illinois where he completed a Bachelors of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He continued his education at Auburn University where he earned his Masters Degree in Management from the School of Business.
For the next fifteen years, Mr. Kager was employed in Human Resources departments in large companies, specializing in compensation management. During his corporate career, he was involved in many strategic projects, such as managing the human capital aspects of mergers and Greenfield start-ups. He was tapped to further specialize in executive compensation during his tenure with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland and USF&G Insurance, where he received specialized training. His experience working inside companies has contributed to his consulting style which emphasizes high involvement and a focus on implementation.

In 1997 Mr. Kager founded The POE Group, Inc., a management consulting firm providing consulting services in the areas of employee and executive pay systems. Clients ranged from small entrepreneurial firms to Fortune 500 companies. Industries represented in the client base included financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, information technology, biotechnology, nonprofits, and utilities. Projects predominantly involved advising companies and their Boards on the design and implementation of effective executive pay systems.
In 2009 Mr. Kager joined Mezrah Consulting to develop its executive compensation practice under the independent company, §16 Consulting. Adding executive compensation services to Mezrah Consulting's service offerings provides the opportunity for clients to have all of their executive pay and benefit issues addressed by an integrated team of expert advisors. Mr. Kager joined Mezrah Consulting to be part of a larger firm, where client solutions were the result of team involvement.
Mr. Kager has spoken over the years to many industry and professional groups on the topics of employee and executive compensation. He enjoys opportunities to share his knowledge and educate others in this important area of business.
Giving back to the community is a priority, and Mr. Kager donates his time and expertise to local non-profit organizations. Currently he is the Chair of the Personnel Committee for the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay and is active in the adult leadership of Boy Scout Troop 610 in Valrico, FL.
